About Ravenhall Correctional Centre
Ravenhall is Victoria’s largest, medium security prison for adult sentenced and unsentenced males. Its contemporary campus-style design provides a safe and humane environment that enables and nurtures GEOs Continuum of Care operating philosophy.
Ravenhall also has a dedicated Forensic Mental Health Unit, a specialised Closed Supervision Unit for prisoners with significant challenging behaviours, and a small Mission Based Unit for prisoners who have never been in custody before. In recognition of the importance of Continuum of Care, Ravenhall extends its presence into the community by providing ex-prisoners with access to post-release support at GEO’s Community Reintegration Centre.
With key focus on young adult offenders, Aboriginal and those with complex and mental health needs, prisoners at Ravenhall have significant opportunities to engage in work, education, programs and services, through an evidence based approach to reduce re-offending.

About the Opportunity
The Post Release Case Worker at Ravenhall Correctional Centre plays a crucial role in pre-release planning and support for men before their release. Following release, the focus shifts to providing post-release support, with an emphasis on case management and coordination to implement Individual Reintegration Plans. This approach aims to ensure a successful transition to community living.
The case management support covers key areas, including housing, education/employment, family and community connections, and substance use and mental health treatment. Additionally, the role involves delivering relevant CRC programs and services. The Post Release Case Worker is tasked with establishing and maintaining a network of statewide community service providers and referral sources to facilitate successful client reintegration.
This position reports to the Manager, Community Reintegration Centre and collaborates closely with GEO Rehabilitation and Reintegration Services Staff and Alliance Partners to offer an integrated response to meet clients' reintegration needs.
As the Post-Release Case Worker you will:
- Provide effective case management and coordination for clients accessing GEO’S Community Reintegration Centre.
- Coordinate and support clients to implement their Individual Reintegration Plans post-release.
- Assess client’s needs including in relation to housing, mental health, employment and AOD.
- Assist clients to secure and/or maintain crisis, transitional, social, or private rental accommodation.
- Assist clients with applications for priority access to the Victorian Housing register.
- Assist clients with employment planning and support to enhance post-release employment outcomes.
- Develop and maintain networks of employers across a range of industries and geographical locations.
- Organise Employment Expo’s for prisoners to gain exposure to different industries and employment opportunities as well as providing an opportunity for networking to enhance post-release employment outcomes.
- Engage collaboratively with GEO and external stakeholders to optimise reintegration outcomes for people accessing The Bridge Centre services.
- Work location will be at Geo Group's Bridge Centre, located at 1/548, Bridge Road, Richmond, VIC 3121.
Your Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role of Post Release Case Worker you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare, Human Services or other relevant fields or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research and evidence related to positive resettlement and reintegration outcomes for people released from prison.
- Previous experience in and knowledge and understanding of, the issues faced by individuals who have been institutionalised including issues of adjustment, behaviour, transition, and reintegration.
- Demonstrated ability to work with clients with complex needs such as Acquired Brain Injury, Homelessness, Mental Health and Substance Use Issues.
- Ability to coordinate access to and/or deliver programs and services relevant to the reintegration needs of men who have been released from prison.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaboratively stakeholder relationships and networks to facilitate positive outcomes for clients.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and attitudinal characteristics conducive to building positive, non-judgemental professional relationships with people with a history of incarceration.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and navigate various information management systems.
