Full-Time salary $85,000 - 89,000 plus superannuation

What You Will Do   

As a Trade Instructor, you will work in the Vocational Services team and use your trade expertise to make a real difference. Your primary duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver hands-on trade training and ensure prisoners are inducted and competent in the safe use of equipment.
  • Develop and review training plans for industry plant and equipment.
  • Supervise production processes, manage quality control, and meet client specifications.
  • Promote and maintain OH&S compliance in line with ISO 45001 standards.
  • Participate in case management by recording engagement and progress.
  • Conduct staff inductions, refresher training, and attend relevant meetings.
  • Maximise training opportunities through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Report incidents and security breaches in accordance with regulations.
  • Support employment pathways for prisoners and assist with vehicle movements when required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and governance standards.

Is This You? Your Essential Skills for Success

  • Trade Expertise: Relevant qualifications and hands-on experience in steel fabrication or timber work.
  • Training & Supervision Skills: Ability to mentor and instruct in a fair, professional manner.
  • Production Knowledge: Experience managing targets, deadlines, inventory, and quality control.
  • Safety Focus: Strong understanding of OH&S requirements and safe work practices.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to engage and negotiate with diverse groups effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Capacity to apply creative solutions and initiate improvements.
  • Technical Ability: Competence in operating a range of machinery and equipment.

Desirable: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, First Aid certification, and correctional industry experience.
